【”おおいなる時間”をつなぎ止める『封印』の役割を担う唯一無二の存在】
[The unique existence carrying the burden of the Seal which secures the "Great Time"]
"おおいなる時間 （「時間」 「空間」 「次元」）"を、現世の正しい時間につなぎとめているクサビ。 あらゆる時代にただ１人のみ存在し、前の女神が死んだときに”オシルシ”が現れた者が、次の女神と認定される。 前の女神の死後、”オシルシを持つ女性が発見され、正式に女神となるまでは封印不在の状況であり、この期間に神による破壊が行われることを神官たちは恐れている。
The bond which ties the "Great Time (Time, Space, Dimension)" to the proper time of the present world. Only one person per era exists on whose body the "mark" appears when the previous goddess dies, acknowledging that person as the next goddess. After the death of the previous goddess, until the woman bearing the "mark" is found and officially instated as the goddess, the state of affairs is that there is a missing seal; the priests fear that during this interval the wrath of God may come down and wreak havoc upon the world.
"オシルシ"が現れても本人が「女神となること」を選択しない限り、正式に女神として認定されることはない。 しかし、”オシルシ”が出た時点で周囲からは孤立した存在となるため、承知するしかないというのが現状だ。 正式に女神として認定されると、その後は一生、市井の生活に戻ることはできない。 女神となった者の生活は完全な幽閉状態で、世間とは隔絶されて過ごす。 家族を含め、民間人とはいっさい交わることがなく、神官長が代表で身の回りの世話をする。 このため、一般の人々が女神の姿を見たり、会話を交わしたりすることはない。 ただし、戦乱の世では流浪の旅を余儀なくされるため、民間人との接触も行われる。
Until the person on which the "mark" appears is selected to "become the goddess," she is not officially recognized as such. However, because the bearer of the "mark" must lead an isolated existence, the bearer generally refuses to accept it. Once she is officially instated as the goddess, from then on, she will never again be able to return to her life in the city. The one who becomes the goddess leads a life of complete confinement, entirely isolated from the rest of the world. She cannot have family, or cross paths with a civilian on any occasion; the head priest, as representative, takes personal care of her. Because of this, there are no occasions on which the common people have caught a glimpse of the goddess' figure, or exchanged conversation with her. However, if the state of war forces her to travel, she will be able to have contact with civilians.
女神の存在については、そもそもは ”選民意識 （＝神に選ばれしもの） に基づき、神の威を借りた暴徒が派生しないように” という目的で、神官側が封印の概念を導入したものではないか―――と言われているが、これは ”オシルシ” などの不可解な現象を説明するには不十分な説である。 しかし、そうした存在を人間が望んでいたことは事実であろう。
Regarding the existence of the goddess, the original intention was based on the idea that "as the chosen one (one elected by God), she may borrow God's power to prevent the rise of insurgents," but did the nearby priests ever question this concept of the seal which they were introduced to---with all that was said, this was an insufficient theory to explain the mysterious phenomenon that was the "mark". However, the truth is that humanity probably longed for such an existence.
現女神であるフリアエは、１４歳のときに ”オシルシ” が現れ、兄力イムや、許嫁イウヴァルトと離れて幽閉生活に入った。 また、フリアエの前の女神の名はアシラと言い、彼女が封印を護っていた時期には、農村一揆や貴族の反乱が頻発したという。 これは、アシラが女神の掟を破り、堕落した恋に落ちたために神の怒りを買った―――との噂に基づくものだ。 さらに、「恋の相手は小国カールレオンの国王・ガアプ （カイムの父） である」 と言う者もあったが、それは、厳格で名高い同王を失墜させるための陰謀との説が強い。 しかしその後、当のガアプがブラックドラゴンに惨殺されるに至って、その噂が真実なのではとの噂も根強く囁かれている。
The current goddess, Furiae, received the "mark" at the age of 14, leaving her elder brother Caim and her fiancee Inuart to enter a life of confinement. Also, the goddess that came before Furiae went by the name of Asherah, and in her time protecting the seal, it is said there were frequent occurrences of rural uprisings and aristocratic insurrection. Here, Asherah defied the law of the goddess, provoking the wrath of God by condescending to fall in love---thus the rumors go. Furthermore, there were whispers that "The one she loved was Gaap (Caim's father), king of the small country of Caerleon"; there is a strong theory this rumor was part of a plot to ruin the reputation of that celebrated king. But after that, when that same Gaap was slaughtered by a Black Dragon, that whispered rumor became strong enough to seem almost as if it were truth.

Because of this, goddesses lead similarly short lives. Intercourse and childbirth are forever forbidden to them, as well.

Once one becomes a goddess, she can no longer interact with others - even family - outside her attendant priests. In Furiae's case, however, war would lead her to reunite with Caim and his companions.
現女神フリアエ。すべてを断ちきり、女神としての生活を受け入れだが、兄カイムへの想いは未だに捨てきれない。憂いと虚無に満ちたその瞳には、一体何が映っているのだろうか―――。
The current goddess, Furiae. She cut herself off from all things, accepting the life of a goddess; however, she still cannot bear to throw away her feelings for her brother, Caim. What can be seen reflected in those sad and empty eyes...?
