Wei Wuxian's introduction to his in-laws stopped at Lan Xichen.
After all these years together, everyone knew Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji were a pair. The Lan family had always been strict on etiquette, and it was felt that Wei Wuxian couldn't be allowed to continue with his current dubious status: they'd introduce him to everyone at the next family gathering.
Lan Qiren, chin up so high his beard pointed at the sky, standing under the combined power of Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen's hopeful gazes, answered Wei Wuxian's call of Uncle.
When he got to Lan Xichen, according to custom, he should have called him Elder Brother the same way Lan Wangji did; but such a title was much too old-fashioned, and didn't suit Wei Wuxian's personality at all.
And so he smoothly and easily called out "Ge."
Lan Xichen smiled cheerily; Lan Wangji didn't say a word.
Upon returning that night, Wei Wuxian happily tricked Lan Wangji into drinking a little wine. He nearly broke his back as a reward. Most days if he called him Lan Er-gege a few times and begged he could get the man to let up at least a little, but tonight the more he yelled that nickname, the more ruthlessly he was tormented.
After Wei Wuxian came to, he decided that calling Lan Xichen Ge wasn't all that great of an idea after all.
Not long afterward he ran into Lan Xichen again; Wei Wuxian racked his brains for a while, when suddenly the answer came to him in a flash of divine light. Under Lan Xichen's affectionate gaze, he gave a perfectly polite greeting--
"Hey there, Big Brother!"
Note: the first "elder brother" is xiongzhang 兄长
second is ge 哥 (short for gege 哥哥, so sort of like bro)
wangji's nickname would literally translate to lan second big brother (蓝二哥哥)
last is da xiongdi 大兄弟
